#21:
There’s something energizing about meeting a cartoonist who is constantly adapting, constantly figuring out new industry terrain, someone who has mad hustle and makes you feel lazy. That is the feeling I have every time I speak to Hilary B. Price. She asks questions, she listens, and she shares insights that had never occurred to me because I’ve only been a cartoonist for a fraction of the time she has. Her experience is extensive and unique.
Her syndicated panel “Rhymes with Orange” is a long-running feature she now works on with Rina Piccolo. It’s syndicated by King Features.
Hilary wrote an interesting piece above on her Substack this week that had me thinking once again about our defaults in who we depict in cartoons. Our individual contexts for what we define as ‘normal’ are so vastly different. Give it a read, and leave a note in the comments. It’s a conversation cartoonists have sometimes that can be controversial for some.
Anyway, you can subscribe to her substack here:
I love Hilary's work! Hope she'll turn on the paid option here on SubStack, I'd love to support her!
Hilary Price just got herself a new fan!
